CHOC Stories - Riley's Story
Amy and Jason Meunier were enjoying their two young children - their two-year-old daughter Sydney and newborn son Riley. Life was good. Then, when he was just 2 months old, Riley developed petechia, tiny red dots on the skin, and eczema. His pediatrician ran some tests, confirming he had a low platelet count. Riley was sent to a community hospital. There, he was hospitalized frequently - off and on for close to four months, while doctors tried to determine what was wrong. Amy and Jason were desperate for answers. After doing some research, they insisted on taking Riley to a hematology specialist at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). |
